Memories, I have a one or two… and I think that today is a good time to start.
Halloween, possibly Maxine's most favorite day of the year.
Every year she would dress up the kids, and sometimes herself, with Halloween masks and costumes then take then out trick or treating around all the local streets. When our kids got to big it was the turn of all the family and friends kids.
After going from house to house it would be back for a small party, with homemade cakes and treats, and time to share out all of the bounty.
Not forgetting making the pumpkin lanterns and all the decorations around the house.
For Maxine this was a magical time which I think she enjoyed as much, if not more than the children.

This is a contemplation rather than a memory but seems to fit Maxine's personality.  It was written by Mary Frye:

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning
's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

For Maxine, My good friend

They say time can heal the sorrow

Time can heal the pain

But no time can ever bring back

My great friend again

No end of rainbow wishes

No treasured crock of gold

Could give us endless time on earth

Or let eternity unfold

“Tempus fugit” this is true

We cannot slow it down

We can only enjoy each minute

For as long as we are around

The hands of time scar deeply

And each second is a life

Is it so? Things heal with time?

Why then does time cause strife?

Time eases pain but gives it first

We must hurt but in time, smile

Oh what would one give

To turn time back once in a while?

Take back what time has stolen

Our days, and months and years

Our friends we dearly cherished

Time ticked on, and brought us tears

The world fears time but it must go on

But time can’t make us forget

In our shallow spell on earth

The treasured friends which we have met.

God Bless

X

Luv ya Max

One of my earliest memories of Maxine, was a few weeks after Christian and Damon were born.  Daryl and I  where in Lanzarote at the time so the weekend after our return I stayed over at Ann and Brians's house.  I came downstairs Maxine and Brian were feeding the twins.  I was scared of holding a baby and hadn't really held Christian or Damon for very long, anyway Maxine had other ideas, so after their feed she came into the living with the cheeky grin and glint in her eye followed by her dad and placed Christian in one arm and Damon in the other, she then said she was going for a shower and disappeared upstairs, Brain said he was going to make his porage (porridge) and also disappeared, leaving me quite alone unable to move.  Needless say I managed just!!!!!  The twins just slept thank goodness.

Whenever Daryl and I went to visit there was always a smell of baking, I think Maxine must have baked everyday, so we always came away well fed, no matter how busy she was with the children, because by this time Charlotte had been born, I was always made to feel very welcome, even when we arrived unannounced, Maxine was a very generous person, and I shall miss her very much, but I have so many happy memories to remember Maxine by that she will never be forgotton.  Love and God Bless Maxine xx.
