I first met Maxine when I started to teach at her local club, the one behind the back of her house.  She was the very first person to come to one of my classes and from thereon in she came to every single class I held!

She was such good fun to have in the class and would always join in in every single dance.  I also remember her sons, Christian and Damon getting up and having a go sometimes, along with Charlotte, who was only a tot back then.

Maxine would dance towards the back of the class and many a time I would be asking what the heck was going on at the back as there would be fits of giggles coming from there as I was trying to teach...low and behold it would be Maxine with other members of the class

I know she continued to dance for a while after we lost contact but I don't know to how much and for how long.  It is something she loved with all her heart at one time.  After I stopped teaching I would nip into Grandma's Kitchen and Maxine would sit and have a milky coffee with me and we would always catch up and have a chat.

May you rest in peace Maxine.

I first met Maxine when I started line-dancing.  She was a well accomplished dancer by this time and I found her very easy to follow so I hooked onto her   She was really friendly and chatty, her along with an elderly chap named Harry...and after meeting up at classes for a while we started to go out dancing socially.  I would pick her up from her house and off we would go somewhere...could be somewhere in Chorley or more often than not at the weekends to The Riverside.  We had loads of laughs...she always got involved in the fancy dress/charity nights we had as linedancers and I remember going to her house one afternoon, with my son, and low and behold what did she get out for me to hold but one of her rats!!!!!  I nearly screamed the place down.

I have loads of fond and happy memories of Maxine and also not so happy memories of when I knew she wasn't very well with her eating disorder when sometimes she would confide in me and I would be telling her to eat something.  We lost contact after I stopped linedancing a few years ago and I just can't believe that Maxine has now gone.  I really wished she could have overcome her anorexia....not for one minute did I ever think it would take hold of her to such a degree.

Thanks for the wonderful memories Maxine...I have videos of us line-dancing which I will treasure forever.  If any of her family would wish for a copy of these in the future I will be so happy to copy them for them.

Please God look after Maxine's family.

Night, night, God Bless Maxine.

I didn't really know Maxine as such, but we had bumped into each other a number of times in Chorley. The thing is, those of us with eating disorders can always tell when we come across another sufferer. It's nothing to do with weight, it's a mutual understanding of the struggle - and the pain which is apparent within one's eyes.
We come across many people in life, many faces and names which we forget.
I didn't forget Maxine though. She always smiled at me when we passed - and I always smiled back - I only wish I had spoken to her - offered her my understanding.

Anorexia along with other eating disorders are cruel and painful, I know only too well - I am lucky to have survived up till now, Maxine's death has served as yet another wake up call for me.

May Maxine rest in peace. Sympathy and condolences to her family and friends.
